Our calling

Faith in Action

1. Worship

We are guided by John 4:23–24: true worshippers worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for the Father seeks those who will worship Him in this way.

2. Word

We are Christ-centred and founded on the authority of Scripture, shaped by biblical truth, and committed to living out God’s Word in our faith, character, relationships and service.

3. Community

We are a community-based church that builds meaningful relationships, encourages one another, carries each other’s burdens, and creates a place where everyone can belong, grow and flourish in Christ. We seek to make a positive difference in the community where we live.

4. Service

We are building a Christ-centred family where people belong, grow together, carry each other’s burdens, and experience the transforming power of genuine Christian fellowship.

Our Story

Where it all began

A Family Answering God’s Call

In July 1996, the Moiloa family moved from Elandsridge in Carletonville to Kriel, Mpumalanga. Their children, Oagiloe, Oratiloe and Omphile, were five, three and two years old respectively. After spending just over a year in Kriel, the family relocated to Witbank, now Emalahleni, around 1998.

The family searched for a church where they could belong and serve the Lord to the best of their abilities. After visiting several churches, they remained restless and entered a season of prayer, seeking God’s guidance for the way forward. In His grace, God enabled the establishment of what would become Zoè Rooted Ministries.

The first gatherings

Seven People, One Sitting Room

Around 1999, the Moiloa family began the ministry with the support of approximately six people. The first gathering took place in the Mahlangu family’s sitting room in Ackerville, known as Ninja, with seven people in attendance.

They prayed, worshipped and shared the Word together.

A growing home

The Journey to Our Present Site

As the ministry grew, a larger venue was needed in the Witbank Extension area, known as Ezinambeni. Along the way, the church gathered at:

  • Edward Matjeka Primary School
  • Empucukweni Secondary School
  • Extension 5 Clinic
  • Our present site, where the church first gathered in a tent before the current structure was built

Along the way

Valued Partnerships

We acknowledge the role Bishop Botwana played in establishing the Emalahleni branch of Zoè Bible Church, which later became Zoè Rooted Ministries. The affiliation led by the late Bishop Nkosi contributed greatly to our growth. We also value our partnerships with ET Mayim Chayim, Zoè Tabernacle and Zoè Bible Ministries International, which helped water the seeds of growth.

The church today

Rooted, Growing and Welcoming

Today, the church has grown to more than one hundred members, with every age group represented. We have grown from one pastor to three pastors, supported by departments that help the church serve faithfully and operate effectively.

Our vibrant worship team leads the church in deep worship. Our dynamic women’s ministry hosts prayer gatherings, Bible studies, workshops and an annual conference, which has become a signature event. We also have a growing Sunday school and youth ministry, a men’s ministry that continues to gain momentum, and a dedicated Communications and Corporate Image department.

Through every season, the church continues to thrive. We remain grounded in the Word, led by the Holy Spirit, and committed to the work of our Lord Jesus Christ. Without the enabling grace of God our Father, we would not have come this far.

We are a warm, family-centred church, and everyone who wishes to fellowship with us is welcome.
